Born before 1853 in Siedleckiej, Poland
. Son of Stanislaw Choinski and ???. Baltazar is believed to be the youngest of six children. The siblings names are not known. All are believed to have been born on the family farm in Kalinowska Basie (northwest of Rutki, East of Lomza), Russia (now Poland). Some family lore suggests that the family home was in Rutki Kosaki and it is believed that the Kosaki was a county or province name under the Russian regime. Baltazar married Marianna (Maryanna Faszcrow?) Faszezewska in about 1875. Marianna was perhaps born in Faszcze, Poland in about 1853. It is believed that her family may have been members of the Jablonka-Koscielna Parish Although the family had a farm an cultivated crops, family lore suggests that Baltazar was a woodworker and cabinetmaker and constructed fine furniture as his primary occupation. The family farming provided for the family food supply and sales from the farm supplemented the furniture making income. Baltazar and Marianna had six children together, Teofil born about 1876, Adela born about 1880, Stanislaw born about 1880, Walenty born 14 February 1883, Wanda born 6 December 1889, and Rozalie born May 1894. Son Teofil inherited the family farm from his parents and worked the farm for many years. Working the fields, he uncovered a mine during plowing operations and was killed by the blast. He died on 15 March 1945. Daughter Adela married Teofil (Popiolowski) Popiewkiego in about 1900 and had eight children. It is believed she may have died around 1919 in Poland, perhaps in the same region around Kalinowska Basie. Little is know of son Stanislaw Choinski. It is not known if he married or had children nor are there details of his death. Three of Baltazars children emigrated to the United States perhaps escaping World War I troop action in their region of Poland. Son Walenty immigrated to the US arriving on the SS Pretoria from Hamburg on 1 April 1904. He was listed as Valenty Choyenski. His future wife, Natalie Kuczenska (sometimes Natalia Kuczinska) sailed aboard the SS Niew Amsterdam arriving in New York on 22 May 1909 from Rotterdam, Holland. She is listed as Russian and her last residence Misinetz, Lomza, Russia. Her destination is listed as her brother-in-law, Stanislaw Marchinowski of Watermill, NY. Wanda Choinska immigrated to the US between 1904 and 1911, married Andrzej "Andrew" Stanley Borawa and settled in Riverhead, Long Island. Older siblings Teofil, Adela, and Stanislaw lived and raised their families in Poland and never emigrated. Rozalie Choinska immigrated to the US arriving on SS Cincinnati in New York on 26 June 1912 after departing Hamburg 14 June 1912. She was 18 when she travelled, occupation is listed as "h.maid", her cousin paid for passage. Her final destination is listed as Southampton, NY. World War I (1914-1918). Both Baltazar and wife Marianna died of typhus during WW I (about 1915) and the war was actively being fought in their region. It is not known where they are buried. Son Teofil inherits the family farm. |
