23 February 2006: Grandson Daniel J. Hoey dies at River Oaks Residential Care, Port Royal, South Carolina. He is buried at St. Matthews Cemetery in Norristown, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania. His obituary from the Beaufort Gazette:
Daniel J. Hoey, 86, of Port Royal, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, in River Oaks Residential Care. Services will be Saturday, March 4 at St. Francis Assisi Church in Norristown, Pa., with burial in St. Matthews Cemetery. Mr. Hoey was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Norristown, Pa., a son of Margaret Swallow Hoey and John Vallely Hoey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during World War II. He was a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and received a master's degree in education from Temple University. He taught history in the Norristown School District and at Bishop Kendrick, where he coached football and baseball. He was a partner in Dan Hoey Realty in Norristown. Survivors include a sister, Margaret "Peg" Hieligman of Port Royal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Mugent Hoey; and a brother, John V.
