16 May 1902:  Elwood William Johnson (later Hoey) born in Bloomington, Minnesota to Knute Johnson (later Hoey) and Frederikke O. Paulson. (Note: It is believed that Knute changed his surname around 1915 from Johnson to Hoey yet both sem to have been used.)

From the 1920 census, Elwood was living at 1222 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota.

Before 1930: Father Knute Hoey dies.

13 November 1933: Mother Frederikke O. (nee Paulson) Hoey dies in Hennepin Co., Minnesota.

Elwood married Mildred Helen Keeler in 10 June 1949. Mildred was born 26 September 1915 in Athens, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Pearl Smith Keeler. Elwood and Mildred had one child, Larry William Hoey born 3 June 1951.

Elwood died at the age of 76 on 8 July 1978 in Sayre, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania. He is buried at Tioga Cemetery, Athens Borough, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania. Elwood’s wife Mildred Keeler Hoey died 3 January 1997 in Sayre, Pennsylvania. She is also buried at Tioga Cemetery.
