From Susan B Tandy 27 March 2001:
My Great Great Grandfather, John HOY was born in 1803 in Ireland. He was
one of nine boys, two had a linen factory in Ireland. He came over at age
23 on the Good Ship Lady Hunter and landed in New Brunswick. He was
naturalized in 1845 in Chambersberg, PA. He Married Mary Underwood(e) on
Jan 29 1835 in Chambersberg. They had three children, John M. Hoy, born 28
Apr 1836 in Chambersberg, Peter HOEY (my Great Grandfather who added the
'e') who was born 2 June 1844, also in Chambersberg, and Catherine Mary Hoy
who was born 29 Jan 1840. I have no other information on John or Catherine
except their birth dates . Family tales say John left Mary with three
little children and went south to build bridges for the railroad, never to
be heard from again. Mary died five days after Catherine died. Mary was
from Dutch stock - a catholic, had dutch herb garden. Not much is known
about John, except he went West to Omaha, Nebraska from Pennsylvania. There
were two daughters born in Omaha and were possibly Johns. Peter was in
Company C, 22nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry, Ringold Cavalry as a
Private. We have the Widow's Pension papers showing this. He was an agent
for Agriculture Implements. Was raised on a farm in Log Pyle, PA. Peter was
married (12 Oct 1867 in West Alexander by Rev. Wm. L. Lester) to Nancy Jane
Taylor, born 3 Feb 1849 in West Finley, Washington, PA. She died 17 June
1928 in Washington, Washington, PA. They are both buried in the
Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA. They had three sons, Edward Wilbur,
Frank John (my Grandfather) and Harold Walter (Harry). They were all born
in Washington, PA. Frank and Emma Jane had five children, William Thompson,
Harriet Louise, Dorothy Marion, Dudley McKay, and Frances Agnes (my Mother).
This is all I have on the Hoey family and would love to learn more about
them if anyone has any other information. I look forward to sharing
information with you.

8 April 1993: Dudley McKay Hoey dies in Wilson Co., Texas
