About 1891: John Hoey married Annie McDonald probably in Jersey City, New Jersey. Annie was born in May 1864 in Ireland to unknown parents. Annie immigrated in 1883.

February 1892: Daughter Mary "Mamie" Hoey born probably in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey. Mary later marries James Halloaran about 1920 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Mary dies about 1968.

JAMES A. HOEY

GLEN SPEY - James A. Hoey of Glen Spey, a retired driver for Port Jervis Trucking and Rupp's Southern Tier in Middletown and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 76.

Son of the late Thomas and Margaret McGoey Hoey, he was born June 9, 1924 n Port Jervis.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Yulan; a 50-year member of the Elks Lodge No. 645 in Port Jervis; and Teamsters Local No. 445 in Newburgh.

Survivors include his wife Genevieve "Gene" Hoey at home; a brother, Thomas of Santa Barbara, CA; four nephews, Thomas of Port Jervis, Mark of Cedar Hill, TX, Dr. William McAveney of Leesburg, VA and Robert McAveney of New Fairfield, CT; a niece, Kathleen Garwood of Santa Barbara, CA; three cousins, John McGoey of Matamoras, PA, Thomas McGoey of Port Jervis and Ann Brown of Port Jervis; nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.

A Mass of Resurrection was held at St. Anthony's Church in Yulan. The Rev. Evan Greco officiated. Burial was in St. Lucy's Cemetery in Cochecton.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Anthony's Church in Yulan or to the Lumberland Fire Department, Glen Spey, NY.
