 4 April 1839: Margaret Jane Hoey born to Patrick Hoey and Catherine ? in Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., New York. Father Patrick born in Ireland c 1802/03 and mother Catherine born in Ireland c 1815.

Siblings of Margaret include Patrick, Mary (Margaret?), Catherine, James, John, Daniel, Thomas, Sarah, Michael, and Charles.

1840 Federal Census: Patrick and Catherine immigrated between 1833 and 1839. Living in Hoosick, Rensselear Co., New York.

1850 Federal Census: Patrick and Catherine immigrated between 1833 and 1839. Living in Pittstown, Rensselear Co., New York.

1850 Census Note: In addition, a Catharina Hay age 16 born Ireland living in the home of Cornelius Lansing in Hoosick.  Second, a Mary Hay age 15 in Hoosick living with the Lebaron family.  She was born NY.  These two girls could easily be siblings or cousins of the above children, sent out to work in household in Hoosick when the family moved to Pittstown, a few miles away.

1856: Father Patrick moved with his family to Palos, Cook County, Illinois.  

1857: Brother Michael Hoey born at Palos, Cook County, Illinois.

1857: Margaret marries William Boughton (or Bouton) probably in Cook Co., Illinois. They have three children together.

March 1857: Daughter Flora Emogene Boughton (or Bouton) born in Palos, Illinois.

1859: Brother Charles Hoey born Palos, Cook County, Illinois. Mother Catherine may have died during childbirth with delivery of Charles.

November 1859: Son Howard Eugene Boughton (or Bouton) born in Palos, Illinois.

1860 Federal Census: Father Patrick Hoey living in Palos, Cook Co., Illinois. He has remarried. He married Elizabeth Gallegher. It is not known what became of his first wife Catherine. Perhaps she died during clildbirth with son Charles in 1859. Margaret and her family are living near her father.

October 1861: Daughter Harriet C. Boughton (or Bouton) born in Palos, Illinois.

August 1862: Husband William R. Boughton (or Bouton) enlisted in the 100th Illinois Infantry Volunteers.  On 11 November 1862, he dies of typhoid fever in Glasgow, Kentucky.

1862: Margaret's husband William Boughton (or Bouton) dies.

After 1862: Margaret marries Wiiliam P. Young and the family relocates to Iowa Falls, Hardin Co., Iowa (sometime before 1870) Margaret and William have 10 children together. It is believed that some of Margarets's brothers also made the move to Iowa around 1870.

1865: Son Jesse E. Young born.

1867: Son Edwin Young born.

1869: Son Franklin Young born.

1871: Daughter Libbie Young born.

1873: Son Daniel Young born.

1875: Son Harry Young born.

1877: Daughter Ella Young born.

1879: Daughter Bertie Young born.

Before 1900: Husband William and two sons, Edwin and Harry die. William Young is buried at Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Parents buried Union cemetery.

February 1900: Margaret Hoey Young dies in Iowa. She is buried at Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls Iowa.
