Melissa Ann was born 29 October 1839 and is the daughter of Bowen Grady Trowbridge and Ann nee Armstrong. Melissa Ann Trowbridge was probably born in Bruceton Mills, Preston Co., Virginia (now West Virginia). Note: Some research suggests that the Trowbidge family relocated from West Virginia to Hocking Co., Ohio in March 1866.

16 April 1866: Sister Louie Belle Hoey born in Vinton Co., Ohio to George C. Hoey and Melissa Ann "Annie" Trowbridge. (She later marries David Harvey Babcock)

"The following taken from the columns of the Garden City Views, dated December 29, 1898: 'One of the first stores......of the town. Dr. Hoey, who died some time ago in Oklahoma, was one of the first physicians. Dr. Dempsey was here .....' "

14 March 1917: Irvin F. Belcher of Greenwood, Jackson Co., Missouri obtains a marriage license to marry Maurine Hoey of Harrisonville, Cass Co., Missouri. They were married the same day by George C. Monroe, Minister of the Gospel at the Baptist Church of Harrisonville. License indicated Maurine and Irvin are both over eighteen years old. Note: This may not be Claude Hoey's daughter. It appears to be the daughter of George Hoey and Retta. Maurine b Aug 1888. Family living in Peculiar, Cass Co., Missouri in 1900.

12 September 1918: Claude Clifton Hoey registers for the WWI draft in Harrisonville, Missouri. Claude is living in Garden City, Cass Co., Missouri. He was born 19 June 1875. He is self employed in real estate and insurance in Garden City. Nearest relative is wife, Emily Mae Hoey at same address. He is short, small build, gray eyes and brown hair.

12 September 1918: Son Harold Newton Hoey registers for the WWI draft in Harrisonville, Missouri. Harold is living in Garden City, Cass Co., Missouri. He was born 10 December 1898. He is a student in high school in Garden City. Nearest relative is father, C. C. Hoey at same address. He is tall, slender build, blue eyes and brown hair.
