27 September 1882:  Born in Harrison, NJ.

1882:  Baptised at St. Pius (Holy Cross) Church in Harrison, NJ.  Sponsors at christening were Jne. Denney and Sarah Donnelly.  Date unknown.

1885:  Father Charles J. Hoey died when Arthur was three.  May have lived at 39 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, NJ where his parents lived per the 1880 census.

20 January 1886: Sister Julia Hoey born.

29 October 1888: Sister Julia Hoey dies. She is buried at Cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre in East Orange, NJ.

1890 Census:  Destroyed by fire.  Not available for Harrison, NJ.  Only two pages available for Jersey City, NJ.

1900 Census-524 Central Ave, Harrison, NJ-Julia Hooey [sic] (Head), Nellie M. (daughter), Arthur C. (son), and John Denney (brother).  Arthur at 17 was a jeweler's apprentice.  Arthur C. Hoey Jr. of Richmond, VA says his dad apprenticed at Rieker Brothers Jewelers in Newark, NJ.

22 September 1903: Sister, Helen "Nellie" Marie Hoey marries John Anthony Carey at St. Pius Church, Harrison, NJ. They make their home in Pittsburgh, PA.

1907:  Married Agnes Kennedy at St. Lucy's Church in Jersey City, NJ.

19 April 1908: Son Arthur C. Hoey, Jr. born.

30 October 1909: Daughter Helen Elizabeth Hoey born.

1910 Census-524 Central Ave, Harrison, NJ (Parent's house)-Arthur (head), Agnes (wife), Arthur (son), and Helen Elizabeth (daughter).  House rented.  Landlord unknown (Perhaps mother, now Julia Garvey (nee Denney)).

10 February 1910: Arthur's older sister, Helen "Nellie" Marie Hoey Carey dies in Pittsburgh, PA. Family lore suggests that she had influenza while pregnant with her third child, Charles "Bud" Carey, died, and the newborn was saved.

18 October 1911: Daughter Mary Agnes Theresa Hoey born.

5 October 1913: Daughter Agnes Theresa Hoey born.

1917:  Opened first Jewelry Store at North 4th Street, East Newark, NJ.

30 August 1917: Son Charles J. Hoey born.

After 1917:  Next store location at 826 Kearny Avenue, Arlington, NJ.

After 1917: Next store location at 123 Kearny Avenue, Kearny, NJ.

1920 Census-Feb 18 1920-524 Central Ave.  Arthur C. (head), Agnes T. (wife), Arthur C., Helen E., Mary (daughter), Agnes (daughter), Charles J. (son).

6 August 1920: Son William Kenneth Hoey born.

27 September 1923:  Son Arthur and daughter Helen gave their father an inscribed silver locket for his birthday.  Inscribed "To Dad, from Helen and Arthur, 9-27-22, Arthur C, Hoey, Kearny 1050."  This locket was meant to carry travel papers for the Elks club.  The filogris on the interior of the locket says "Hello Bill", the symbol that all Elks are friends and on a first name basis.  Arthur C. Hoey Jr. gave the locket to Charles' son, Arthur Hoey in 1994.

1951 Sales Agreement:  Sale of Home at 874 Devon Street, Kearny, NJ on 21 December 1951 to Schmidt for $13,000.

About 1951:  Moved to Florida.

About 1952:  Moved to Lindhurst, NJ.  Neighbor was Helen Izon.

About 1952:  Moved to second floor apartment on Forest Street, Arlington, NJ.

About 1952:  Entered hospital for throat cancer.  Laryngectomy performed.

28 February 1955:  Died in Rumford, Maine.  Believed to be home of Campbell and Helen (Arthur's daughter) Turner's home.

Newspaper obit indicates born in Kearny, NJ.  Ran the jewelry store from 1930-1953.  Member of the Elks Lodge 1050, past regent of the Royal Arcanum, and the Holy Name Society of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in North Arlington, NJ.  Funeral was held at Reid Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Arlington, NJ.
